Workforce analytics is the practice of using an organisation's HR and people data, such as headcount, turnover, absence and demographics, to identify trends and inform decisions, rather than relying on periodic manual reports or gut feel.
Employee turnover rate is typically calculated by dividing the number of employees who left during a period by the average number of employees during that same period, then multiplying by 100 to get a percentage. Many HR platforms, including Sense HR, calculate this automatically from existing employee records.
Headcount is a simple count of the number of employees, regardless of how many hours each person works. FTE, or full-time equivalent, adjusts that figure to reflect actual hours worked, so two part-time employees working half the standard week might count as a headcount of two, but an FTE of one.
Commonly tracked HR metrics include headcount and FTE, staff turnover, absence rate, average length of service, and demographic breakdowns such as age, gender or nationality, which together help identify trends before they become larger problems.
Yes. Sense is ISO 27001 certified, and all workforce data used by Census, including demographic data, is stored in secure, UK-hosted data centres compliant with GDPR, and is never used to train any AI models.
